ABOUT
The Role of a Councillor
A councillor is a member of the Council and is normally elected for a term of four years. People of any political or religious persuasion are eligible to become a councillor, although their personal views should not extend into their parish council work. A Councillor is an unpaid voluntary role.
They are elected to represent the interests of the local community as a whole and promote a harmonious local environment. The number of elected Councillors depends on the size of the area. In Tivetshall we are able to have 7 Councillors.
As a local Councillor you can become a voice for your community and make a real change. Councillors represent the interests of the communities they serve.
Local councillors have three main responsibilities:
• Decision-making
• Monitoring
• Getting involved locally

I moved to Tivetshall St Mary at the end of 2019 after decades of living in different countries around the world and various locations across the British Isles.
I have a degree in Public and Environmental Health and have over fifteen years’ experience working for and with various parish councils.
By joining Tivetshall Parish Council I hope to work for and enhance the area I now live in and call home.
